PLAINFIELD – The days of city residents’ overflowing trash and recycling containers sitting at the curb with no information about when they will be emptied may finally be coming to an end.
After winning election to a third term in office Tuesday night, Mayor Adrian Mapp announced plans to disband the Plainfield Municipal Utilities Authority (PMUA), the agency that has been responsible for the city’s sanitary services, and transfer its role into the city’s operations.
A transition team of members of the Mapp administration and PMUA leadership, joined by legal and financial advisors, will be appointed to study the planned dissolution and make recommendations., Mapp said. Additional details are expected in the coming weeks.
